About Me
Hi, I’m Divyana Mirpuri, a high school student based in Miami with a deep interest in art and design. My creative journey has been shaped by curiosity, observation, and a desire to understand how visuals communicate emotion, meaning, and experience.
I enjoy exploring the intersection of creativity and structure, whether through hands-on artmaking, visual analysis, or thoughtful problem-solving. My approach is reflective and research-driven, allowing me to engage deeply with themes, materials, and processes. This website brings together my work and experiences so far, offering a clear view of how my interests and skills have developed over time.
My Art Practice
My work spans both 2D and 3D mediums, including watercolor, micron, charcoal, graphite, photography, and mixed media. I frequently use the human figure as a central element, exploring psychological and social themes such as isolation, beauty standards, identity, aging, and narcissism.
Many of my pieces focus on moments of tension, between the self and society, appearance and reality, power and vulnerability. I am drawn to distortion, fragmentation, and unconventional surfaces as tools to reflect internal emotional states like anxiety, obsession, and discomfort. Techniques such as warped backgrounds, expressive portraiture, and tactile elements like stitching or fabric help create work that feels immersive and intentionally unsettling.
At its core, my art is driven by observation and emotion. Rather than capturing only how something looks, I aim to convey how it feels beneath the surface.
Aquatic Art Display
I led the creation of an aquatic-themed art display at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, curating and showcasing student artwork across over 100 feet of space. The installation featured vibrant paintings and mixed-media works inspired by underwater life, designed to create a calming and joyful environment for patients, families, and staff.
Collaborating with teachers and fellow students, I was involved in the organization, curation, and installation of the exhibit. The experience highlighted the role of art beyond traditional gallery settings, demonstrating how creative work can uplift, comfort, and connect people in meaningful ways. This project reinforced my understanding of art as a tool for emotional impact and community engagement.
Combining Art with Business
My interest in art and my growing interest in business came together when I designed a label for Kasim’s coconut water line. The brand, owned by the Kasim Company in Florida, had just been approved for distribution at Walmart and needed original artwork for the can. I created the initial design model, focusing on a clean, fresh, and tropical aesthetic that reflected both the product and its market appeal. Beyond the visuals, I thought strategically about branding how color, layout, and simplicity could help the product stand out on shelves and connect with consumers. My design was then used by the factory and can printing company to produce the final version of the can, showing me how creative ideas can move through real business pipelines. This experience showed me how art can be both expressive and practical, and how design plays a key role in bringing a product to market.
